Kathy Belanger grew up in Lynwood, CA. Over the years she helped her mother plan family parties and events. She took her passion and drive to the workplace and in 1967, became the Public Relations Coordinator for Safeway Stores. Her journey continued when she became the Director of the California Reading Association in 1985, an organization made up of California teachers across the state. Kathy was rewarded for her work in 2003 when she won the California State Wide Literacy Award and in 2009 when she won the John Martin Distinguished Award for Literacy. In 2004, Kathy and Michelle started Encompass Event Planners focusing on educational trainings, conferences and events.
Outside of work, Kathy continues her event planning passion by volunteering her time. From 2004-2005, she became the President of the San Clemente Women's Club and in 2014-2015 became the Vice President of the Dana Point Women's Club. Furthermore, she has also held positions on the board for the San Clemente Community Hospital and the Family Assistance Ministry.
Michelle Belanger began her passion for event planning at an early age. She was always planning parties and events for her friends and family. In 1999, she began working for the California Reading Association, a large non-profit organization that had over 16,000 members. She was responsible for the successful planning of quarterly board meetings, organizing exhibits and coordinating speaker sessions for their annual conference.
In 2004, Michelle & Kathy decided to start Encompass Event Planners which focuses on educational trainings, conferences, and events. Some of their past and current clients include: The SIOP Institute, Pearson Achievement Solutions, Melcast, Billingsley Education, and Seidlitz Education.
In 2012, Michelle became the Gala Chair for the Mako Foundation at Vista Del Mar Elementary and helped raise over $100,000 for her children’s school.
Her passion and drive has helped to spread the works of many educators across the country.
